SAN FRANCISCO
CITY HALL WEDDINGS

IT’S STILL YOUR WEDDING, NOT MY PHOTOSHOOT.

Dear marriers,

San Francisco City Hall has an energy. Every day there are excited couples picking up their licenses, tourists wandering around the hallways, and lots and lots of people getting their photos taken.

My approach to photographing City Hall is still the same as if I were photographing a wedding at a venue; the photojournalist in me wants to capture the full story - the two of you checking in and eagerly awaiting your ceremony slot, little moments between you and the people you bring to witness, and the feelings and energy afterward. We’ll take a relaxed walk through the floors and I’ll guide you through some easy portraits that feel true to the both of you. No need for overly posed shots that scream “photoshoot,” we’ll just have an honest story of what it felt like to be there.

If you’re looking for coverage that embraces the energy of City Hall rather than wait in line for the grand staircase hero shot where it looks like there was no one else around that day, you might feel at home with my style.

FAQ

  • My coverage for City Hall weddings start at 2 hours - this covers your arrival and the check in process, the ceremony, and time for a leisurely walk around the building for some portraits of the two of you and those you’ve invited.

I recommend adding more time if you’d like documentation of your getting ready process or your post-ceremony celebrations.

  • Nearly all of my clients say this, you’re not alone :)

When it’s time for a few portraits, I’ll guide you to the best light, offer natural, simple directions, and keep it brief so you feel comfortable and at ease. No excessive PDA needed or spinning around in a field if that’s not your thing, and no need to spend hours away from your guests.

The wonderful thing about weddings is that it doesn’t need to revolve around photography. Live into your day and be present, and the photographs will simply reflect that.

  • Because I’m always searching for that decisive moment, I shoot digital for weddings so I don’t miss a beat.

Alongside making sure I avoid those half-blinks or half expressions by being able to take multiple images of the same scene, my workflow currently works best with modern gear that is flexible in all types of lighting conditions and that have the ability to write data in two separate cards for redundancy. I’m able to back up the images further on hard drives once I get home as well.

  • Yep! I have loads of back up equipment, and equipment and liability insurance as all professional photographers should have. If your venue needs me to send a COI, just let me know ahead of time.

  • Not a problem at all! I don’t charge extra for image privacy. Just let me know your preference during the booking process.
